"The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose pupose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church."
The memmbers of the UMW at Bethany fullfill the Purpose by participating in meetings, prayers, giving, study, action, and service. Bethany UMW compiles health kits for men, women and children; layettes and lap robes for premature units at UNC hospitals, and collect eyeglasses for those in need. UMW supports Hispanic Ministries, urban and rape crisis programs, Methodist Children igroup homes, the Penny for a Prayer project, plus many other community projects.
