Stew
A dear lady once told me that to understand Bethany, you have to understand The Stew. On the surface, The Stew is just another fundraiser.  We make about a thousand quarts of Brunswick stew and sell them to raise money.  But it's more than that.  It is a Bethany tradition involving men and women, the young and the used-to-be-young, all contributing at least a couple of hours to the project.

It takes days to make a stew.  Orders are taken in advance.  The ingredients must be purchased in bulk and carefully prepared.
When the ingredients are ready, they are mixed in the pots out back in the stew hut.  While the stew cooks, it must be stirred.  And stirred.  And stirred. And stirred.
When the stew becomes ready, it is drawn and packaged in quart containers for distribution.  And it is delicious!
