Bethany's Stained Glass Windows |
|
|
|
 |
|
The Cross and Crown above the main doorway, symbols of Christ's sacrifice and royal authority, welcomes worshipers to Bethany |

The dominant feature of the main sanctuary is the stained glass picture behind the chancellary titled "The River of Life". See how many symbols of the faith you can find embedded in the work, such as The Vine and the Alpha/Omega. Can you see the face of Jesus? |

The "Open Book" represents God's revelation. |

Stained glass windows around the periphery of the sanctuary provide colorful light patterns as they allow in sunlight and streetlight. At the center of each window is a symbol of the faith. |

Upper-Left: The Baptismal Font is a symbol of God's adoption of us as children, His cleansing of our sin, and our identification with Christ in His death and resurrection. The water lillies represent the Holy Spirit.
Top-Center: The Fleur-de-Lis Cross with it's three-leaved end-caps reminds of us theTrinity and of Christ's atoning death and resurrection
Top-Right: The Cross and Bible remind us of Christ, the Incarnate Word.
Center-Right: The five-pointed Star of Bethlehem is symbolic of the Incarnation, and its light is the Light of the World. The palm-leaves and "Hosanna" (Hebrew: Save us!") recall Jesus's triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.
Bottom-Right: What in the world is this beehive doing here? The beehive represents the many parts of the Body of Christ working together for the good of the entire Body.
Bottom-Center: Noah's Ark represents God's judgement of Sin and His promise of Salvation. The dove also traditionally represents the Holy Spirit.
Bottom-Left: Who is this person who clings to the Cross upon the Solid Rock in the midst of an angry sea? We don't know. Perhaps she represents the Church?
Center-Left: The standing Agnus Dei (Latin: Lamb of God) with victory banner represents Christ's triumph over Sin and Death.
